How To Configure A Sbs 2003 To Work With Xp Home Machines?
Good People,
My boss bought a SBS 2003 machine and wants me to hook it up to 7 other computers we already own that are all running XP Home. Everything I’ve read says it’s not possible as XP Home machines were not meant to join a domain. Is there a way to configure either the SBS 2003 machine to recognize the XP Home boxes or vise versa?
At this point us using SBS 2003 is unchangable, and she doesn’t seem to want to upgrade all 7 XP Home machines to XP Pro.
Before we had a nice little Workgroup running. Is there a way to get the SBS 2003 machine to be able to join the Workgroup? Is it possible to delete the domain and just have the server act as another stand alone computer that joins the Workgroup?
A friend suggested I install XP Pro on the server box, and that it would be able to join the already existing Workgroup. All we’re using the server for is file sharing our Quickbooks database. Thanks in advance for any help.
